Follow-up

In the context of ↑quality assurance, the so-called follow-up forms one part of quality assurance processes such as ↑accreditation or ↑evaluation. In a follow-up, actions taken by the subject of the quality assurance process are reviewed in the light of any recommendations that were made. This may involve further meetings with institutional or programme representatives. The objective is to "ensure that areas identified for improvement are dealt with speedily and that further enhancement is encouraged".[1] The follow-up is the last part of a quality assurance process. Such processes will usually also include: -  a self-assessment or equivalent procedure by the subject of the quality assurance project; -  an external assessment by a group of experts, including, as appropriate, students members, and site visits; -  publication of a report, including any recommendations.[2]
